A significant player in the Arable sector requires a fertiliser/seed product manager to join their dynamic management team based in East Anglia. This role will suit candidates coming from a fertiliser trading background or someone with a commercial seeds and arable background wanting take to on product management and business driving role. The successful candidate will take responsibility for sourcing and purchase of agreed fertiliser/seed products by developing purchasing agreements and strategies with suppliers. This will involve negotiating and ensuring terms are current with suppliers. The role will develop existing product areas and identify new opportunities for sales growth. Communication to team members and to farmers customers is an essential part of the role Needless to say fertiliser and seed sales play a significant part in the company’s annual turnover and the product manager will contribute to overall forecast budget planning and company net contribution Qualifications & Experience • Knowledge of the product area market place in which they work is essential in either seed or fertiliser, ideally both. Knowledge will include products & suppliers (Incumbent will be expected to gain knowledge to fill any gaps) Good reputation/relationship with the supply base MS Office skills – a good working knowledge of spreadsheets and basic data analysis (pivot tables, filters, basic functions) Demonstrable commercial skills in negotiating with suppliers and dealing effectively with customers Awareness of marketplace in relation to seed & fertiliser and inflation index, price fluctuations, external factors that can affect this market FACTS registered BASIS an advantage Personal Qualities Good personal management skills – time, organisation – ability to manage a task through to completion – able to work effectively in a high pressure environment but also to manage the quieter times Communication skills – telephone – written contributions to company publications Able to work effectively within a team providing support as needed
