A Soft Fruit Technical Growing Consultant is required for Great Britain and the major soft fruit counties. The successful candidate will be required to provide, or train towards providing, high-quality advice to soft fruit growers. Candidates will need to demonstrate their knowledge on all aspects of crop husbandry, through technical expertise and a concern for the success of their businesses. Ideally candidates should be working in the soft fruit production industry with good fruit crop inspection and growing experience. An agronomic BASIS certificate would be desirable for the role albeit not essential for the person with hands on soft fruit growing experience.
Candidates should have an outgoing and confident personality and have a track record of practical and technical knowledge of soft fruit growing and the GB horticultural industry. The successful person for this technical role will have brilliant communication skills and a strong ability to negotiate with farmers.
To those people wishing to join a successful soft fruit consultancy business, they need to have experience in modern horticultural practices as well as soft fruit growing and also have skills and knowledge in agronomy. They may have worked in some form of farm management previously and probably be a graduate. There may be opportunity for a graduate that has the combined of three years soft fruit growing experience and has achieved graduate academic training in either horticulture or soft fruit
A full clean driving license is essential for the role. In addition good IT literacy skills are needed along with the essential use of Microsoft office software.
